Making your website
How to sign up, describe your business, see your website as a preview, and take it live on your own domain.
Create your account
- Open the sign up page and press Continue with Google, or enter your email address and a password.
- Tick the box to agree to the Terms of use, then press Create account.
- If you signed up with email, Mainmark sends you a link. Open it to confirm your address, and the page carries on by itself.
Building and editing your website is free. You choose a plan only when you want it live.
Describe your business
On Home, press Create a website. The Make your website screen asks a few questions:
- Business name.
- What kind of business do you run? Choose the closest one. If none fits, choose Other business and describe what you do in a few sentences.
- What do you offer? The most common services are already ticked. Untick what you do not offer; you can add your own later.
- What should customers do first? The recommended choice starts selected. If you pick one marked Use your existing booking service, paste your booking link.
- Where you are and your phone number. Both are optional, unless customers should call you first. The phone number is shown on your website.
Press Build my website. If you would rather talk it through, press Or tell Mainmark about your business instead.
While Mainmark writes it
Your Website page shows Being written. Mainmark chooses the colours and type, plans the pages, then writes them. Each page is marked Saved as it is done.
You can leave the page while it works. Mainmark emails you when the website is ready.
If the writing stops, the page says so. Press Try again, and the pages already written are kept.
Your preview
When the writing is done, the website goes up by itself as a preview, on its own address at mainmark.io. The Website page says Your website is ready, with a View your website button.
A preview is a real website you can open and share, with a few limits:
- Every page carries a Preview · Made with Mainmark badge.
- Search engines are asked not to list it.
- The contact form, booking and shop do not take anything, and phone and email links do not open.
- It answers only on its mainmark.io address.
Change anything you like before you go live. Editing your website shows how.
Choose a plan and go live
Each business has its own plan. Once your preview is up, the account owner sees Take it live at the top of the Website page.
- Press Plan and billing, or open Settings › Plan and billing.
- Choose monthly or yearly, then press Choose Essential.
- Pay at Stripe checkout. The first payment includes the activation fee, charged once per business.
- Back in Mainmark, the page says your business is on Essential and its website is going live.
Mainmark publishes your last saved draft. The preview badge goes, and the contact form and booking start working.
Prices are on the pricing page. Domains are bought and renewed separately. Manage billing opens Stripe, where you change your card, see your invoices or cancel.
Go live on your own domain
Your website always keeps its mainmark.io address. To add your own domain, press Domains on the Website page, or open Settings › Domains.
You can buy a domain through Mainmark, or connect one you already own by adding the records the page shows at your domain provider. Mainmark checks the records for you.
A domain shows your website once the website is live on a plan. Domains and email explains each step.
